Hello. Welcome to my blog.

Let me tell you what I intend to do with my own litter corner of cyberspace.

Most importantly, this will not be a narcissistic personal diary on display for all the world. Rather, it will be a narcissistic collection of critical reflections on things that I find interesting (politics, culture, film, etc) on display for all the world.

You see, I am currently a graduate student in philosophy and am terribly afraid of becoming mired in academic esoterica. The contemporary university has become so competitive, specialized, and insular (in other words, so market-driven) that it is now as much of a threat to the intellectuel engagé as the popular culture it used to define itself against. I think that’s unfortunate, which is why I decided to start this blog. This, then, is where I hope to try my hand at popular criticism.
